Frances Patella

Frances Patella lives and works in Toronto. She is a photo-based, mixed media artist, exploring perception, memory and transformation through the representation of the landscapes of the endangered Oak Savannah in High Park during controlled burns. Frances’ work has been exhibited in public and private galleries and has won awards, including mid-career grants from the Ontario and Toronto Arts Councils. She is active in the Toronto arts community as Co-Chair of the Board of Propeller Gallery and a Director of the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. Frances has taught visual arts and analog photography in the TDSB, and has conducted workshops for the Photo Educators Forum and the National Gallery of Photography. She holds a BFA from York University and a B.ED from OISE. Frances is a new member of the Ontario Society of Artists.
